Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) – Pediatric Neurosurgery

Banner – University Medicine Tucson is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Pediatric Neurosurgery team. As Southern Arizona’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care with empathy. Our APPs play a vital role in the clinical management of pediatric neurosurgery patients, performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and engaging in education, consultation, and research to serve our diverse patient population.

Practice Setting:

  • Inpatient

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments of pediatric neurosurgery patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the neurosurgery team.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including patient and family education.
  • First-assist in neurosurgical procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program with a focus on acute care.
  • Current licensure as a PA or ACNP in the state of Arizona.
  • DEA license, BLS, CPR, and ACLS certifications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pediatric neurosurgery or a related field.
  • Experience in inpatient settings.
  • Experience in first-assisting during neurosurgical procedures.
